Must-Have Gouache Supplies
My must-have gouache supplies can be found here, which is also perfect if you want to paint & sip with a group!
You'd need these essentials:
- Gouache/Watercolor/Mixed-Media Paper
- Brushes
- Gouache
- Cup for water
- Rag/Towel to wipe off excess water with
- Paint palette for mixing paints in (you can just use a paper plate too!)
PAPER:
Any gouache, watercolor, or mixed-media paper will do. Canson is a favorite amongst many artists I've seen. I also love the Fabriano watercolor paper, which I feel is a bit more affordable for watercolor paper.
Stretch your money hack: I like to buy the bigger watercolor/mixed media paper pads and cutting them down to size. I get a lot more paper for less $$ per sheet!

BRUSHES:
A good rule of thumb is to have three different brushes, with synthetic hairs: 1 small round brush, 1 bigger round brush, and 1 flat brush. An optional extra is a jumbo/larger brush for all over washes on the page. Here are my current favorites:

DaVinci Casaneo Watercolor Round Quill Brush (larger brush I use for washes. Definitely very pricey but quality is incredible):
That being said, these brushes are on the pricier side. I haven't tried the Princeton Value Sets, but I've heard great things about them. Check them out here:

Himi is fun to paint with since they're in these jelly cups, but it wouldn't be my first choice since I love my Holbein and Meeden gouaches. Just make sure to stir with a poker/thick needle!
